Arnold Palmer was at Wexford Plantation October 21st for the opening of the new Arnold Palmer Signature Course. The residents of Wexford Plantation are in for a real treat with the new design. Palmer explained he drew inspiration for the new Wexford design from his times he remembers playing Pinehurst #2 where the greens set up with many shapes and lots of run-off areas around the greens and also the use of pine straw for the rough as opposed to heavy grassy areas. He explained that these run off areas around the greens are designed for one to learn to use the putter to run the ball on the green as opposed to the wedge shot. As for the pine straw in the rough, he said “he always thought that pine straw was much fairer to hit off of rather than a long heavy grassy rough”. Congratulations Arnold on a spectacular design and we wish much enjoyment to the members of Wexford.
