Coligny Beach is located off Coligny Circle at Pope Avenue, has 32 metered spaces, two are handicap accessible. A long-term slot with 420 parking spaces is across the street - the entrance is on Pope avenue and the exit is on South Forest Beach Drive. The designated swimming area is from The Breakers condominiums to the Holiday Inn.
All of the 12 miles of Hilton Head's white sandy beach is public from the ocean to the high water mark. Access to the beach, however, is often private. The Town of Hilton Head Island provides five beach accesses, one of which is Coligny Beach Park, off Coligny Circle and South Forest Beach Road. This is Hilton Head's most popular beach access. Parking is across the street behing The Smokehouse restaurant.
Parking & Facilities
There are 30 metered spaces at Coligny. Don't park at Coligny Plaza to go to the beach or the merchants will have your vehicle towed. Parking fee for metered spaces is a quarter for each fifteen minutes. Additionally, there are 314 spaces at Coligny Beach Park for long term parking. The fee is a quarter for each thirty minutes during the week. A flat $4.00 fee is charged at the Coligny parking lot on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. You may come and go all day with your paid receipt.
Handicap parking is available at no fee at all beach parks. Parking in residential areas marked NO PARKING - TOW AWAY is by permit only. Unpermitted vehicles are subject to fines and/or tows.
Restrooms, changing areas, sand showers and vending are available at the beach parks. All around and across the street from the park is delightful shopping and wonderful dining! Don't forget the ice cream!!
Official swimming areas have been designated for Coligny beach. The boundaries of these areas will be clearly marked on the beach and in the water.
During the beach season lifeguards are stationed in each of the designated swimming areas and other heavily populated beach areas for assistance and beach information. Please ask a lifeguard before entering the water if the yellow caution flag is flying.
Remember your suncreen, hat and beach towel!
