The Fourth of July weekend is almost here and whether you're a local or here on vacation there's plenty to do this weekend on Hilton Head Island.
Harbour Town at Sea Pines
Annual 4th of July Parade Show off your red, white and blue spirit by decorating your bicycle, wagon, dog, or kids for a fun parade around Harbour Town. Meet at the parking lot adjacent to the Harbour Town Lighthouse at 8:30am to register and pick up decorating supplies. Parade lineup begins promptly at 9:30am, and entries will be judged on patriotism. Supplies available to the first 100 registered families. It seems hard to believe, but this year marks the 45th RBC Heritage PGA golf tournament at Harbour Town in Sea Pines. That's 45 years of the world's best golfers descending upon Hilton Head to challenge the famed Harbour Town links. From April 13th through the 19th Hilton Head becomes awash with plaid and the game of golf dominates the topics at the water cooler and on the beach.
There are some that consider the Harbour Town Golf Links to be a dinosaur among today's professional golf venues. Forget the wide open fairways and putting greens the size of Rhode Island that dominate today's PGA Tour events. Harbour Town features tricky, postage stamp sized greens. The Christmas holiday season brings a wide range of festivals and events throughout the Bluffton and Hilton Head area. Food, fun, lights, and of course Santa Claus! One of my personal favorites is the Bluffton Christmas parade and once again my son and I will be marching in it with the Bluffton Youth Sports baseball program.
Old Town Bluffton Christmas Parade and Festivities
December 5th The festivities begin with the Town Hall Christmas tree lighting from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at Town Hall, 20 Bridge St. The event will include a musical performance by M.C. Riley Elementary School students and an appearance by Santa Claus.
